The Association
has assembled a database in Family TreeMaker format which has over 30,000 names
in it, and which we hope to supplement frequently. The last version was updated
April 1, 2001.
Because
of the size of the database, it would exceed the memory of many members, and thus
cannot be easily downloaded, as was originally planned.
A CD ROM disk is now available to MEMBERS ONLY, at a cost of $3.00
including postage and handling. Obviously this is not a profit-making endeavor.
The CD will be in Family TreeMaker format and that software program will be needed to utilize this data. Version 7.0 is best, but earlier versions probably will work.
The CD may be ordered by contacting Al Bently.
Members
seeking information should be specific as to names, maiden names, dates of birth,
marriage, death, locations, relatives, and all other information which may assist
in a search.
This data is obtained from many sources, and includes a lot
of books, publications, private manuscripts, and data received from members.
Obviously it will contain some error, and the Association offers no assurance
as to its reliability. Still, it should be a valuable place to start much research.
Much of the data is not established to adequate genealogical standards.
Marlyn Musick Cox and many others have devoted much effort
to this undertaking, and we owe them all much credit and many thanks.
Members are urged to submit more family data for inclusion,
and we hope this becomes a complete and continuous Music and Musick genealogy.
